The Asturias Home, designed by Ana Lalinde Guzman, is a testament to the power of transformation and the fusion of art and design. This interior art project involved the renovation of four main rooms: the Ensuite, Master bedroom, Powder room, and Gym. The goal was to create a new language for the house, a natural and elegant style that reflects modern living.
In the Ensuite, the combination of grey tiles and light wood creates a cool and fresh open space, perfect for family relaxation. The Master bedroom showcases a masterpiece bed head, made using a pencil on wood technique. This unique feature adds a touch of artistry and creativity to the room, making it a true focal point.
Throughout the renovation process, Ana Lalinde Guzman utilized her expertise and creativity to bring the design to life. Sketches and pencil drawings were used to develop the concept and layout, ensuring that everything was connected with the wood and grey color palette. AutoCAD and Photoshop were then employed for documentation and final presentation.
The Asturias Home is not only a beautiful design, but also a functional space that caters to the needs of the client. The open and elegant layout allows for different uses, making it perfect for both family and guests. The collaboration between the interior designer, graphic designer, client, and trades was key in achieving a functional and beautiful result in a short period of time.
Designed in Australia and located in Medellin, Colombia, the Asturias Home project took six months to complete, from July to December 2019. During this time, extensive research was conducted to understand the client's preferences and living style. Questionnaires were used to gather information on topics such as travel, favorite colors, and intentions for the renovation. Trends and local shops in Medellin were also explored to source the best products and materials for the project.
Despite the distance between the designer and the project site, Ana Lalinde Guzman overcame the challenges and successfully delivered a stunning design. The bed head in the Master bedroom, in particular, posed a creative challenge. However, with environmentally friendly materials and a high graphic impact, the result was a unique and visually striking piece.
The Asturias Home has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
With its blend of elegance, art, and functionality, the Asturias Home stands as a testament to Ana Lalinde Guzman's talent and the evolution of Colombian design. It showcases the power of transformation and the ability to create spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also cater to the needs and desires of the client.
